Donate Car Chicago Biography

Source (google.com.pk)
I am sure you are familiar with the nickname “The Windy City” that has been given to Chicago, Illinois.  Have no fear though, you will not blow away in the wind! The origins of the nickname have been disputed to be the result of the cool and breezy winds coming from Lake Michigan and from politicians from many years ago.  Sadly, the dispute continues of the true origin. Chicago, Illinois is the ideal place for sports fans. Chicago sports is well known for the six championships that the Chicago Bulls won in the 90′s. Wrigley Field is one of the few major league baseball fields that still has the “old timers” charm. While most baseball fields have allowed big time companies to add their names to the field, Wrigley Field is rich of history and still feels authentic. Hopefully the field will never be named “Google Stadium”.
*Note: Chicago is also well known for their gangsters, big city bosses, political turmoil, voter fraud, corn and hog production, land of Lincoln, Al Capone, Black Hawk War and the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
However, did you know Illinois is the home of the world’s largest cross? Located in Effingham, Illinois, the religious cross is a whooping 198 feet tall and 113 feet wide, forged out of over 180 tons of steel. It can stand up to wind gusts of 145 mph. It has become a great tourist attraction for everyone. The Cross Foundation that built it says that 20 million people drive past the cross each year, and that a percentage of those people will see it and become good Christians and that makes it all worthwhile.
Help For Homeless and Disabled Veterans
While most of the state of Illinois is prospering, there are a group of people that are not getting their prayers answered. Even the cross can not help them. They are the homeless and disabled veterans. Many Vietnam war veterans are struggling to survive. After sacrificing their lives for the United States many years ago, they are living on the streets with no shelter and limited sources of food. Many Vietnam Veterans in Illinois have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Veterans are haunted with memories from their experiences in war and cannot function in society. Veterans that have PTSD describe the feeling as though your mind is in prison. Their minds are full of flashbacks of the horrible bloodshed they experienced in the Vietnam War and they cannot forget them. To add more to their pain, when they returned to the U.S from the Vietnam War, society ridiculed them and called them killers. This added more to their guilt as they never intended to kill innocent children and families. However, they had to follow orders as the long term goal had to be met.
How Car Donations Can Help Disabled Veterans in Illinois
Homeless veterans would never survive through the cold winter nights without the help of the Vietnam Veterans of America-Illinois State Council. While they have been able to help veterans find shelter, support and food for over 25 years, they can not keep up with the demand.  The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) rely on volunteers to provide support to disabled veterans and donations from the Illinois community. To keep up with the increasing demand for help, the VVA Illinois State Council started a car donation program that raised even more funds for homeless and disabled vets.  Their car donation organization is a registered nonprofit charity that allows individuals to donate cars, trucks, vans and even motorcycles.  All car donations are tax deductible. It has become a great way for people to get rid of their old cars fast and easily. Interested donors just have to fill out a car donation form online and schedule a free tow. Most importantly, the proceeds of the car donation benefit homeless and disabled veterans. Donating your car in Illinois can be a great way to help support our Veterans.
